Coalville Rambers

27th November 2017

Andrew Bridgen MP recently joined the Coalville Ramblers for a walk through North West Leicestershire’s countryside. Leicestershire has one of the best maintained footpath networks in the country and the 8 mile walk took the group around the Queen’s Jubilee Wood in Ravenstone. During the walk, Andrew discussed concerns that the group have and learnt  how the walks are a great opportunity for people to make new friends and improve their fitness.

Between the 1st September 2016 and the 31st August 2017, the Coalville Ramblers have led 118 walks with 1557 walkers. They are one of eight groups that make up the Leicestershire and Rutland Area of the Ramblers’ Association and have a full programme throughout the year, which includes a number of shorter walks and social events.

Andrew Bridgen said: “I was delighted to join the Coalville Ramblers on one of their walks. These walks are a great opportunity to meet new people, get some exercise and enjoy North West Leicestershire’s beautiful countryside”.

Robert Woodward, one of the walkers said: “We were delighted that Andrew could join us on the walk and discuss our concerns about ongoing maintenance of the footpath network and the importance of countryside access for all people, which are at the core of The Ramblers campaigns”.
